Michael van Gerwen through to Grand Slam of Darts semi-finals

Michael van Gerwen progresses through to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts with a 16-12 victory over Scott Waites.

Michael van Gerwen remained on course for his second major title in the space of two months after he defeated Scott Waites 16-12 last night.

The World Grand Prix champion shared the opening ten legs with the 2010 Grand Slam winner before a run of eight consecutive legs saw him emerge victorious with an average of over 106 that also included two 170 checkouts.

Dean Winstanley will play Van Gerwen in the last four after he saw off the challenge of Kevin Painter with a 16-12 win.

Raymond van Barneveld won the battle of the Dutch world champions with a 16-10 win over Christian Kist.

He will now play Andy Hamilton after the 2012 World Championships runner-up sealed his place in the semi-finals with a 16-12 triumph over John Part.
