Phil Taylor ready for Gary Anderson showdown

Sixteen-time PDC World Champion Phil Taylor predicts a "scrap" when he comes up against Gary Anderson in the final of the showpiece competition at Alexandra Palace.

Phil Taylor has acknowledged that he faces a real battle if he is to overcome Gary Anderson and claim his 17th PDC World Championship title this evening.

The Power brushed aside Raymond van Barneveld 6-2 at Alexandra Palace last night in a repeat of 2007's thrilling final between the pair to set up a showdown with Anderson.

While Taylor is looking to add to his impressive tally of world titles, his Scottish opponent is competing at this stage of the showpiece competition for just the second time.

Despite this, the Stoke thrower will be on his guard, telling reporters: "I feel great. It will be a scrap in the final and Gary Anderson's in for a battle.

"If he's going to beat me he has a fight on his hands, and I've got a fight on my hands with him. It's going to be a cracking final."

Anderson, who has now reached four major semi-finals in the past 12 months as well as claiming the Players' Championship crown, was edged out 7-5 by Adrian Lewis in the 2011 final.
