Who are the eight players to come through Friday's qualifier for the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton?

James Wade is one of the final eight players to book their place at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.

With qualification for this tournament not based on places in the PDC Order of Merit, there were a number of big names competing in Friday's tournament.

Wade, a three-time runner-up of this event, has rediscovered some of his best form this year, and that was backed up by conceding just the one leg in wins over Simon Whitlock, Florian Hempel and Michele Turetta.

Cameron Menzies built on his ProTour triumph earlier this week by earning another appearance at the Grand Slam, beating Matthew Dennant 5-2 in their deciding game.

Ross Smith edged a final-leg contest with Jeffrey De Graaf, while Danny Noppert saw off the challenge of Dutch compatriot Danny van Trijp in the last 16.

Ryan Joyce - a recent World Grand Prix semi-finalist - and Martin Lukeman also impressed to seal their spot in the group stages.

Keane Barry prevented Frenchman Thibaut Tricole from making his tournament debut with a 5-2 success.

What big names missed out?

Three-time champion Gerywn Price was the biggest name to miss out, with the Welshman losing 5-3 to Mickey Mansell in the final round.

Top seed Jonny Clayton lost to Madars Razma in the second round, as did five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld and 2023 UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.

Nathan Aspinall and Chris Dobey were both eliminated in the third round, going down to Menzies and De Graaf respectively.

Damon Heta, Joe Cullen and Daryl Gurney are further big-name absentees from the event.

Who else has qualified?
