BDO veteran Ross Montgomery wins PDC Tour Card

Veteran BDO player Ross Montgomery becomes the third player to win a PDC Tour Card at Q School, but Fallon Sherrock must win Saturday's event to join him on the tour.

Ross Montgomery has earned a place on the PDC Tour for the next two years after winning day three at Q School.

The 59-year-old, who played 13 times at Lakeside before the BDO recently became the WDF, had shown little to no form on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

However, the Scot rolled back the years on Friday, overcoming 2021 World Youth champion Ted Evetts and 2019 World Masters winner John O'Shea along the way.

While Montgomery's averages dropped as the day progressed, he was still able to post a 6-2 win over in-form Jamie Clark in the final.

There was further disappointment for Fallon Sherrock who, after winning her first match, suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Welshman Justin Smith.

The likes of Richie Burnett and Scott Waites are well placed to earn a return to the PDC Tour through the order of merit, but still require a strong performance on Saturday.

In the European event, Dutchman Luc Peters secured his PDC Tour Card, beating Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-4 in the final.
