Gary Anderson beats Phil Taylor at Players Championship Finals

Gary Anderson wins a last-leg decider against Phil Taylor to move through to the second round of the Players Championship Finals.

Gary Anderson held his nerve in a last-leg decider against Phil Taylor to defeat the three-time champion in the first round of the Players Championship Finals.

The 2014 winner saw Taylor miss double 12 for a nine-dart leg during the early stages, but he kept his composure to hit double 10 in the final leg.

Michael van Gerwen was pushed by former world youth champion Keegan Brown before prevailing by a 6-4 scoreline, but fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld is out after losing 6-5 to Ian White.

World Grand Prix champion Robert Thornton has also been eliminated after losing by the same scoreline to Jamie Lewis, but Peter Wright is through after easing past Steve Beaton.

Dave Chisnall opened the night with a 6-0 whitewash of Joe Murnan, while James Wade and Adrian Lewis progressed with 6-3 wins against Mark Webster and John Henderson respectively.
