The winner of the Giro d'Italia, Ryder Hesjedal, has pulled out of the Tour de France ahead of today's seventh stage.
The Canadian, who rides for the Garmin-Sharp team, is said to have sustained "a massive haematoma on his left hip and leg" in yesterday's stage.
Garmin-Sharp directeur sportif Jonathan Vaughters wrote on Twitter: "Hesjedal is not going to start. Sad, but he'll be back."
Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins is looking to claim the yellow jersey from Fabian Cancellara, whom he trails by seven seconds, today.
