Chris Froome rejects claims from Bradley Wiggins that Team Sky's leadership at this summer's Tour de France is still up for grabs.

Chris Froome has insisted that he will lead Team Sky at this summer's Tour de France, despite claims to the contrary from Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Froome has been widely tipped to lead Team Sky's challenge in the showpiece event after finishing as runner-up to Wiggins last year.

Wiggins hinted yesterday that he aims to defend his crown and claim a historic double alongside the Giro d'Italia.

In response to the statement from his teammate Froome has remained adamant that he has Team Sky's full backing to aim for a maiden Tour de France title.

He told BBC Sport: "I have been reassured by the management at Team Sky that I have their full backing.

"At no time has the leadership of the Tour team been in question."

Froome continued his strong season with victory in the six-day Tour de Romandie earlier this week.
