British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton has claimed that Sir Bradley Wiggins is not guaranteed a spot on the team for next year's Olympics in Rio.
Wiggins, who won the Tour de France and Olympic gold in 2012, is aiming to represent Great Britain in the team pursuit.
However, Sutton has insisted that the cyclist will not just walk into the team a year from now when the Games get underway.
"Do I think Brad can make it? Yes, of course I do. Is it a given? No," Sutton told the Cyclingnews. "He's going to have to work for it because I'm very confident in the group we've got. Brad coming in has strengthened that group, but it doesn't by any means guarantee him a place."
Wiggins will be 36 years old when the Olympics are held in Brazil.
