GB's Lizzie Armitstead 'focused' on winning Olympic gold in Rio

British cyclist Lizzie Armitstead says that her main 'focus' is winning gold in next summer's Olympics in Rio.

British road cyclist Lizzie Armitstead has claimed that her "focus" from now on is gearing herself towards the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The 26-year-old, who won the World Championships in Virginia at the weekend, took Olympic silver in the road race at London 2012.

"[Gold in Rio] would surpass [the World Championships] if I could achieve that," TeamGB.com quotes Armitstead as saying. "That will be my focus now for the next 12 months. All in for Rio.

"It's definitely an elite club. There's a big tradition in British women's cycling. There's been a lot of champions before me and I'm sure there will be ahead of me."

Armitstead won gold for England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year.
