Nino Schurter leads Switzerland clean sweep in cross country

Nino Schurter leads a Swiss one-two-three at the European Games men's cross country mountain bike event.

Nino Schurter has cruised to victory in the men's cross country mountain bike event as Switzerland added three more medals to their Baku 2015 haul so far.

The three-time world champion made an early break as he looked to add the European Games crown to his array of titles.

Schurter, who briefly competed for professional road-racing outfit Orica GreenEdge last year, suffered a mechanical problem and had lost his mid-race buffer.

However, the Swiss star broke in the latter stages and coasted to victory ahead of fellow countrymen Lukas Fluckiger and Florian Giger, who took silver and bronze respectively.

Schurter was beaten to Olympic gold by Czech racer Jaroslav Kulhavy at London 2012.
