Scotland duo claim B2 tandem gold in dramatic finale

Team Scotland's Neil Fachie and Craig MacLean secure gold after defeating Australia in a last-gasp finale in the men's sprint B2 tandem event at the Commonwealth Games.

Team Scotland duo Neil Fachie and Craig MacLean have secured gold in a dramatic finale after defeating Australia 2-1 in the Commonwealth Games men's sprint B2 tandem event.

The Australian duo of Jason Niblett and Kieran Modra took the first race and looked set to win their second race after building up a strong lead.

However, Fachie and MacLean sent the crowd at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome into a frenzy after coming from behind on the final straight to overtake their rivals and force a tie-breaking race.

The Oceanian pair, by now bereft of confidence, were defeated once again by Fachie and MacLean, who built up an unassailable lead on the final straight of the decisive race to secure the gold medals.
