Callum Skinner hails "incredible" crowd

Team Scotland rider Callum Skinner hails the "incredible" atmosphere inside the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome this morning.

Team Scotland rider Callum Skinner has hailed the crowd following the opening session of cycling at the Commonwealth Games.

The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome saw an enthralling morning session, with a number of Commonwealth Games records being broken and the crowd getting fully behind the host nation.

While Skinner himself experienced a "disappointing" session having failed to make the final of the men's sprint, he acknowledged the difference that such vocal support makes for the team.

"They've been incredible. There are no secrets - if we make the effort then they will go mad so everyone else knows what is going on. They do definitely help to push you that extra mile, but unfortunately today that couldn't happen. But we've [still] got the team sprint this afternoon and the keirin [at the weekend]," he told Sports Mole.

Skinner will ride alongside compatriots Jonny Biggin and Chris Pritchard in the team sprint this afternoon.
