Lance Armstrong dismisses claims that he took performance-enhancing drugs during his comeback for Astana in 2009.

Lance Armstrong has insisted that 2005 was the last time he took performance-enhancing drugs.

In a television interview, Armstrong admitted to Oprah Winfrey that he did take EPO during his career but refused to accept that he took drugs when returning to professional cycling in 2009.

The 41-year-old said: "I did not dope in 2009, the last time I crossed the line (using doping) was 2005.

"The last two years I did the tour did I cheat, absolutely not.

"The accusation, and the alleged proof, that I doped after my comeback was not true."

Armstrong was stripped of his Olympic bronze medal on Thursday.
