England's Scott Thwaites has admitted that he was disappointed to miss out on the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.
The 24-year-old was beaten on the line by New Zealand's Jack Bauer after being locked in the race for second as they fell behind eventual winner Geraint Thomas.
Thwaites acknowledged that Thomas was too strong for him on the day, but had mixed emotions at having been forced to settle for the bronze medal.
Thwaites told BBC Sport: "Geraint was so strong I always knew that [his breakaway] was coming. It was just a matter of time before he went for the gold medal.
"My legs were shot at the end, Jack [Bauer] is a super-strong guy but he just got me in the end. I'm a little bit disappointed but I'm just happy to be on the podium."
Thwaites secured the bronze medal in a time of 4:14:26.
