Team England cyclist Joanna Rowsell has said that she is "really looking forward" to taking part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Rowsell today won a gold medal in the 3,000m individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, although that event will not be included in the Olympics.
Instead, the 25-year-old will look to defend her 2012 team pursuit crown in Brazil, and she is eagerly anticipating the challenge of moving up to the new distance of 4km.
"[I'm] really looking forward to Rio. It's the team pursuit in Rio, not the individuals. I won't get the chance in the Rio Olympics to do the individual pursuit because they've taken it out," Rowsell told reporters.
"But the team pursuit is a brilliant event and I'm looking forward to the challenge of 4km now that it has gone up. The rest of the world has got really competitive as well so it's not going to be plain sailing at all to Rio. But I'm looking forward to the build-up."
Rowsell was part of the all-conquering team pursuit squad alongside Dani King and Laura Trott at the London Olympics, setting new world records in the qualifying, semi-finals and final.
