The West Indies face a battle if they are to avoid defeat in their third Test against New Zealand, having lost four wickets in the afternoon session on the final day in Barbados.
The hosts headed into the interval 161-7, leaving them 146 runs behind ahead of the final session of the match.
Having lost three wickets before lunch, including that of Chris Gayle for just 11 runs, Shivnarine Chanderpaul followed shortly after play resumed as his chipped a Mark Craig delivery behind for BJ Watling to remove his stumps.
Tim Southee added to the wicket of Gayle from earlier by dismissing Darren Bravo (40) and captain Denesh Ramdin (29), while Craig sent Kemar Roach back to the pavilion shortly before tea.
Jason Holder remained at the crease on 23 not out while Shane Shillingford added four before the teams headed in for the break.
