Alastair Cook reaches half-century before tea

England captain Alastair Cook hits a half-century to lead the side to 151-4 on day one of the third Test against the West Indies.

Alastair Cook has continued to lead the charge for England on the opening day of the third Test against the West Indies as the captain reached an unbeaten 60 at tea.

The tourists headed in at the end of the session on 151-4, with Moeen Ali also contributing, hitting 37 off 80 balls in the afternoon.

Joe Root's wicket was the only one to fall after lunch, as Veerasammy Permaul forced the Yorkshire batsman to edge a delivery back to Denesh Ramdin shortly after the action got back underway.

Moeen survived an appeal midway through the session when he used his pads to block a Marlon Samuels delivery, but the replays confirmed that the ball did not pitch in line with the stumps, allowing the all-rounder to remain at the crease until the interval.
