Graham Onions and Tim Bresnan took three wickets apiece as play finally got underway in England's third Test with the West Indies at Edgbaston.
Andrew Strauss won the toss and, following consecutive washouts on days one and two, unsurprisingly decided to bowl.
Onions and Bresnan recorded impressive figures of 3-56 and 3-74 respectively as the visitors closed on a 280-8.
That competitive knock was thanks largely to Marlon Samuels' speedy 76 from 114 balls. The visitors marksman was eventually outed lbw by the pacy Bresnan.
Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin also made a solid contribution and ended the day on 60 not out.
