South Africa trail India by 35 runs

Jacques Kallis closes in on a century in his final Test as South Africa trail India by 35 runs at the end of play on the third day in Durban.

South Africa are 35 runs behind India at the close of play on the third day of the final Test match in Durban.

The home side finished the day on 299-5 as rain curtailed play, with Jacques Kallis closing in on a century.

The 38-year-old all-rounder, who will retire after this match and was given a guard of honour by Indian players, scored 78 runs off 224 balls and will resume day four alongside Dale Steyn, who is yet to open his account.

South Africa were struggling at 113-3 at one stage, but Kallis and AB de Villiers put on a fourth-wicket stand of 127 to lift the home crowd's spirits, before the latter fell to Ravindra Jadeja after making 74 runs.

Jadeja has been the pick of the Indian bowlers so far in the match, having picked up four wickets for 87 runs.
