South Africa, who will be without Dale Steyn due to a side strain, win the toss and opt to put India into bat in their opening ICC Champions Trophy clash.

South Africa have won the toss and decided to bowl in the opening ICC Champions Trophy clash in Cardiff.

The world's best Test side have been dealt an early blow in their campaign by losing Dale Steyn, who has been forced to miss out on today's action with a side strain.

Colin Ingram has made the team following Steyn's absence, while Rohit Sharma will open the batting for India, with Dinesh Karthik in the middle order.

Today's encounter is the first match from Group B, which also includes Pakistan and the West Indies, while England will get their campaign underway in Group A against Australia on Saturday.
