Perth Scorchers produce a convincing 52-run win against the Renegades, condemning the Renegades to their first defeat of the season.

The Melbourne Renegades' 100% record in the Big Bash has been brought to end by a fine display from the Perth Scorchers.

Perth were put in to bat first after losing the toss, but the inspired duo of Hershcelle Gibbs and Shaun Marsh posted a formidable total.

Gibbs scored 56 off 39 balls while Marsh made 85 to set a tough target of 187-3, the highest in the competition so far this season.

The Renegades reply stuttered from the start when top scorer Aaron Finch was dismissed for eight.

Marlon Samuels then fell for first-ball duck shortly after, with only Ben Rohrer offering stubborn resistance.

Rohrer scored a quick-fire 52 but it was all in vain as Melbourne crashed to 135, slipping to their first defeat of the season.
