"Timekeeping issue" behind Monty Panesar's Essex omission

Monty Panesar is left out of Essex's side to face Glamorgan in the County Championship as a result of a "timekeeping issue".

Essex have revealed that Monty Panesar was dropped from their team to face Glamorgan in the County Championship this afternoon because of a "timekeeping issue".

It was anticipated that the England spinner would feature in the Essex XI over the next four days at Chelmsford, but youngster Tom Craddock was included instead.

"The England spin bowler was omitted for a timekeeping issue and was replaced by Tom Craddock, one of two Essex players making their first LV= County Championship appearances of the season," read a brief statement on the club's official website.

So far this season, 32-year-old Panesar has taken 19 Championship wickets in six outings.
