New Zealand have kept their hopes of success in the one-day series against West Indies alive with an 88-run victory in St Kitts.

Leading 2-0 and looking to secure the series with a third win, Windies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bowl.

Half-centuries from Rob Nicol and Nathan McCullum helped the Black Caps post a par score of 249-9, which proved to be more than enough after Sammy's side made a disastrous start to their innings.

The wickets of Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith, Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Bravo all fell within the opening 15 overs as the West Indies were reduced to 62-5 early on.

Andre Russell led an unconvincing fightback with an unbeaten 42 that included four sixes, but the hosts were all out for a disappointing 161 with 15.3 overs remaining.
