New Zealand scored their highest ever Twenty20 total against England at The Oval this evening, setting the hosts a victory target of 202.
Bowler Boyd Rankin was handed his England debut and opened the bowling for the hosts. He got a dream start by removing James Franklin for a duck but then the tourists took control.
Hamish Rutherford (62) and Brendon McCullum (68) led the Black Caps past 100, with both men departing off the bowling of Luke Wright.
The final wicket of the day came once New Zealand had achieved 200 runs. Tom Lathan (22) was caught by Ravi Bopara off the bowling of Jade Dernbach.
The other run scorer for the visitors was Ross Taylor, who managed 32 not out off 19 balls.
