Leicestershire have appointed former Australian Test player Andrew McDonald as their new head coach.
The all-rounder played for the county in 2010 and 2011, and became a fan favourite as he helped them win the Friends Life T20 three years ago.
Leicestershire have not won a match in the County Championship for two years and lost 10 of their 16 matches last season as they finished bottom of Division Two.
McDonald told the club's website: "I developed a relationship at Leicestershire as a player and the opportunity to return in the role of head coach is one I am looking forward to."
"Coaching has always been something I have harboured ambitions to pursue. I think that going into coaching at a relatively young age, while still involved in cricket in the way that I am in Australia as a player, is a very progressive move for both myself and Leicestershire."
McDonald played four Test matches for Australia in 2009, taking nine wickets and achieving a batting average of 21.40.
