James Vince takes Hampshire's one-day captaincy

James Vince takes over the captaincy of Hampshire in the one-day format of the game.

Hampshire have confirmed that James Vince will be their new one-day captain.

The 24-year-old, who averages 40 with the bat, has replaced Jimmy Adams, who will now focus solely on skippering the side in the County Championship.

"I had a taste of T20 captaincy last season and I really enjoyed leading the England Lions this winter so I'm pleased to get the opportunity to captain Hampshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup," he told the club's official website.

"Last year it probably took us a bit too long to get used to the new format, but we feel a lot more prepared this season and a Lord's final is what we are all aiming for."

He will captain Hampshire for the first time in 50-over cricket when the Sussex Sharks visit the Ageas Bowl on Monday, July 27.
