Half-centuries from Alastair Cook and Gary Ballance have seen England get to 186-1 at tea on day one of the third Test against India at the Ageas Bowl.
The hosts started the session on 78-1 after Sam Robson had been dismissed for 26 midway through the morning.
However, Cook and Ballance were able to form a solid partnership at the crease to guide the home side towards an encouraging score.
England skipper Cook moved past 50 on his way to reaching 82 not out, while Ballance ended the afternoon with an unbeaten knock of 72.
