Bob Willis: 'ECB yet to make Alastair Cook decision'

Former England bowler Bob Willis says that the ECB has a big decision to make over the future of England captain Alastair Cook.

Former England bowler Bob Willis has said that it is unlikely the ECB has made a decision on the future of captain Alastair Cook.

Cook has come under pressure after a one-day series defeat to Sri Lanka was confirmed today, with one match of the tour still remaining.

However, Willis told Sky Sports News that he still expects Cook to lead England into next year's World Cup.

"I don't think the door is closed on a possible change at the top, but it would be very unlike the 'new England' under managing director Paul Downton if they did jettison the captain. They've got to think very long and hard about that," he said,

"Yes, Stuart Broad and James Anderson are coming back from injury and you've still got Alex Hales and Ian Bell in reserve as batsmen but you can't have your captain misfiring as badly as he has been doing. So that is a tough decision and clearly minds haven't been made up yet."

England play the final match of their Sri Lanka tour on Tuesday.
