A thigh injury will prevent Steven Finn from representing England in their second Test encounter with India in Mumbai.

Steven Finn has been ruled out of England's second Test match against India with a thigh injury.

The 23-year-old sustained the problem while bowling during a warm-up encounter a fortnight ago.

As a result, he was forced to sit out as England lost the opening Test match in Ahmedabad by nine wickets to their hosts yesterday morning.

Reports had claimed that the pace-bowler would recover in time for next match in Mumbai, with Tim Bresnan's place in the starting lineup believed to have been under threat.

However, it has been confirmed this afternoon that the injury has not healed sufficiently and Finn will have a second scan tomorrow to determine how much longer he will be sidelined for.

The second Test will get underway on Friday.
