Andrew Strauss: 'No England hope for Kevin Pietersen after Ashes'

ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss shuts the door on any talk of a potential post-Ashes international recall for Kevin Pietersen.

Andrew Strauss has confirmed that there is no chance Kevin Pietersen will receive an England recall, highlighting this summer's Ashes victory as evidence that the national side has "moved on".

The England and Wales Cricket Board's director of cricket made it clear that there is no way back for the country's record run-scorer after England secured a 3-2 series win over Australia.

Pietersen was told that he would not be considered for a recall for the Ashes upon Strauss's appointment by the ECB, and though the likely situation after the summer was not clarified, Pietersen's former teammate has now confirmed that his England days are over.

Strauss told reporters: "I think that the team has moved on and the team is in a pretty good place. I think some of those young guys have established themselves.

"You look at [Joe] Root, [Ben] Stokes, Moeen Ali as three guys over the past 18 months that have really come through and have the makings of top-quality international players. That is what we will be focusing on taking England forward."

South-African born Pietersen played in 104 Tests and won 136 one-day international caps for England between 2004 and 2014.
