Report: Surrey eager to re-sign Kevin Pietersen

Surrey are reportedly preparing to hand Kevin Pietersen a chance to force his way back into the England squad.

Surrey are reportedly keen to bolster their squad for all three formats of the game this season by re-signing Kevin Pietersen.

The 34-year-old, who was sacked by England last year, is currently contracted to play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, which gets underway next month.

However, it is believed that the batsman is hoping to play county cricket this year in a bid to earn himself a recall to the England squad.

If South Africa-born Pietersen is able to free himself from his commitments with the Sunrisers, Surrey are the frontrunners for his signature, according to BBC Sport.

Pietersen had a four-year stint with Surrey up until 2014 and he is known to share a good relationship with head coach Graham Ford and director of cricket Alec Stewart.
