Eoin Morgan: 'We can win the World Cup'

England captain Eoin Morgan feels that his side are more than capable of winning the World Cup for the first time as the competition prepares to get underway.

England skipper Eoin Morgan believes that his side have enough quality to win the World Cup.

England have failed to win the competition in 10 previous attempts, but have reached the final on three occasions, most recently in 1992 when the tournament was last held in Australia and New Zealand.

However, Morgan is confident that his side have the ability to win the World Cup for the first time, despite being grouped with Australia, who got the better of his team during the recent Tri-series.

"We're here to win the World Cup," Morgan told reporters. "That's the bottom line. Like every other team, we're here to get the best out of ourselves, and us at our best, we can win this World Cup.

"The talent within the squad is untold. It's certainly the most talented squad I've ever been a part of, and to get the opportunity to lead these group of players in a World Cup is huge.

"Maybe once, twice in a career you have an opportunity to go and win a World Cup. The opportunity is huge and guys are really looking forward to it. If we front up and play as well as we can, absolutely we can beat Australia."

England begin their campaign next Saturday against the Baggy Greens in Melbourne.
