Alex Hales vows to bring natural game to Test arena for England

Nottinghamshire batsman Alex Hales says that he will maintain his attacking principles after earning his first call-up to the England Test side.

Nottinghamshire batsman Alex Hales has stated that he will stay true to his attacking game after being called up to the England Test side for the first time.

The 26-year-old, who opens the batting for England at one-day level, has been named in the squad that will tour the United Arab Emirates to play a three-match Test series against Pakistan.

Hales has admitted that while the Test arena will provide a learning curve for him, he is not looking to alter his style of play too much.

"There are going to be plenty of challenges. It will be my first ever Test tour, a new environment for me and it's going to be a great experience playing and training in subcontinental conditions," he told Nottinghamshire's official website.

"It's going to be a brilliant learning curve and hopefully it can develop me in different conditions. I've got to stay true to myself, keep trusting my technique and keep believing that the changes I've made are going to be successful in the international arena.

"It's up to me to tinker with a couple of things, keep developing my game but to stay true to my basics."

Hales could open the batting alongside captain Alastair Cook after incumbent Adam Lyth was omitted from the squad.
