Yorkshire's Gary Ballance boosted his chances of being in the England squad for the upcoming Test matches against Sri Lanka by scoring a century during the second innings against Middlesex this afternoon.
The 24-year-old, who made his England debut during the most recent Ashes series, was eventually caught by Steven Finn at Lord's for 130 runs - a knock that included 15 fours and six sixes.
It was the second century that the left-hander has scored in as many County Championship fixtures.
Meanwhile, his teammate and fellow England hopeful Joe Root scored 63 from 100 deliveries before he was trapped lbw by Finn.
