England coach Andy Flower has insisted that he has full confidence in Andrew Strauss as a Test captain.

Strauss's position as skipper has come under intense scrutiny in recent months following a succession of failings with the bat.

However, speaking after England's 1-1 Test series draw with Sri Lanka, Flower claimed that he has no concerns with Strauss being in charge.

"Of course we were aware of what was happening around us in the press, we're aware of that," said Flower.

"But he's a strong man and is obviously a very confident and secure bloke and he's been focusing on scoring runs and leading the team well.

"He's got a few runs here and he's led the team outstandingly well. I'm very happy with him as the Test captain."

Strauss, 35, has been England captain since January 2009.
