England team director Andy Flower: 'Hugh Morris will be sorely missed'

England team director Andy Flower says that the ECB must find a new managing director in the same "calibre" as Hugh Morris, who stepped down from the role today.

England team director Andy Flower has called on the England and Wales Cricket Board to appoint a new managing director with "equal calibre" to Hugh Morris.

The governing body announced this morning that Morris has stepped down from his role, but with doubts over his own future, Flower has revealed that he is not considering his own position.

"Hugh has worked with the ECB for 16 years and he's been very much part of, and a reason for some of the success that English cricket have had. He will be sorely missed by the playing group, certainly by me, and his post will need to be filled by a man of equal calibre.

When asked if he would be interested in taking the position, Flower said: "I haven't given that much thought to be honest. I'm a cricket coach."

England celebrated winning the Ashes over Australia last night following the draw at the Oval due to bad light, which prevented the hosts from clinching a historic 4-0 win in the series.
