England ODI delayed by rain in Sri Lanka

The opening ODI of England's seven-match series against Sri Lanka is delayed by heavy rain in Colombo.

England's opening one-day international with Sri Lanka has been delayed by heavy rain in Colombo.

The first of a seven-match series is scheduled to take place at the R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

However, more downpours in Sri Lanka - England's final preparation game in Colombo on Sunday was abandoned without a ball being bowled - have postponed the start time until 10am.

Covers were removed from the wicket and outfield at around 9am, and an hour will be given for the ground staff to soak out the standing water while players from both sides warm up prior to the 9.30am toss.

No overs have yet been lost from the 100 scheduled.
