Luke Wright steadied the ship for his side, however, smashing an imperious 99 not out off just 55 balls.

Hales was run out on 31 while Morgan, Buttler and Bairstow all fell for under 30 runs.

Afghanistan will now bat in an attempt to beat England's tally.
