England ask for Jonathan Trott clarification

England ask match referee Ranjan Madugalle for clarification on the controversial second-innings dismissal of Jonathan Trott.

England have queried the decision of third umpire Marais Erasmus to dismiss Jonathan Trott during the second innings of the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge.

The 32-year-old was given not out by Aleem Dar after Mitchell Starc appealed for lbw, with the batsman appearing to edge the ball before it hit his pad.

However, he was sent back to the pavilion for a golden duck after Australia reviewed the decision and Erasmus overruled the on-field call.

Hot spot was inconclusive due to the inability to use the side-on angle, which could have exonerated Trott, and the Three Lions do not believe that there was enough evidence to dismiss him.

They have now asked ICC match referee Ranjan Madugalle for clarification on the issue.
