Alastair Cook says that England are beginning to show their best form after bouncing back from defeat in the recent one-day series against New Zealand.

Alastair Cook has said that England have regained confidence following the disappointment of losing the recent one-day international series against New Zealand.

The Three Lions lost 2-1 to the Kiwis, but victory in the final game at Trent Bridge gave the team momentum heading into their ICC Champions Trophy opener against Australia, which they won by 48 runs at Edgbaston.

Next up is Sri Lanka at The Oval today, a clash upon which the skipper has placed vital importance.

"The win against Australia was a good one, as was the last one against New Zealand," Cook told reporters.

"The first two games against New Zealand seem to be out of the way. We seem to have recovered a bit of form and confidence now.

"We can make a really big stride towards the semi-finals if we win [against Sri Lanka]."

England play their final group game against New Zealand in Cardiff on Sunday.
