Alastair Cook and Nick Compton have given England hope of salvaging a draw in the first Test match against New Zealand in Dunedin.
The tourists ended on 234-1, which means they trail the Black Caps by 59 runs as they head into the fifth and final day.
Both opening batsmen made century knocks, although Cook (116) was removed late in the day having notched his 24th Test ton.
The skipper was caught behind by BJ Watling off the bowling of Trent Boult, bringing in Steven Finn as nightwatchman.
Compton, who had spent around 50 minutes stuck in the 90s, reached his maiden Test century soon afterwards.
He screamed with delight as he brought up triple figures, and added two more runs to his total before play was brought to a close.
