Tim Bresnan believes that he has all the attributes to become a future captain of England.

Yorkshire all-rounder Tim Bresnan has revealed that he is keen to captain England one day.

The Twenty20 captaincy is up for grabs after a shoulder injury ruled current skipper Stuart Broad out of the upcoming series with the West Indies.

One-day captain Alastair Cook and bowler Graeme Swann have been suggested as alternatives, but Bresnan is eager not to be overlooked by selectors.

"It would be a massive honour to lead England out wherever it was, in whatever format of the game," said the 26-year-old.

"I wouldn't turn it down. I'd love to do it.

"I feel as though I'm experienced enough to know what's going on, what fields to set - so yes, I'd take it on."

Earlier today Bresnan was awarded his first central contract.
