Sir Ian Botham: 'Alastair Cook can't play in World Cup on current form'

Sir Ian Botham doesn't believe that England captain Alastair Cook should play for England at next year's World Cup based on current form and feels that his captaincy isn't secure.

Former England player Sir Ian Botham has said that Alastair Cook isn't a certainty to captain England in the World Cup.

Cook's England are 4-2 down to Sri Lanka in the current one-day series with one game still to play, which has led coach Peter Moores to say there will be a full review.

Botham told Sky Sports News: "With Moores saying that we review everything at the end of a series, then I would say it is not as nailed down as it appeared two or three weeks ago. Maybe there is going to be a bit more thought.

"But at the moment there is just no way that you could play Alastair Cook in the World Cup. He's just all at sea."

The World Cup starts in February and will be played in Australia and New Zealand.
