Ian Bell has claimed that he is as desperate as he has ever been to guide the England team to success.

The 31-year-old was a part of the squad which suffered a 5-0 defeat to Australia in The Ashes in the summer, and he believes that the series against India later this year will be the perfect opportunity for Alastair Cook's side to return to form.

"We have to dust ourselves off and get English cricket back on track," Bell told Sky Sports News. "A five-match series against India is the perfect opportunity to do that.

"Hopefully I've still got a big part to play as a senior player. I've got my 100th Test match this summer and I want to help the young lads coming through. It's a new challenge for English cricket.

"We don't know who the head coach is yet and there's no doubt there's going to be some massive changes. That's exciting though, and my hunger of playing for England and scoring runs is as much as when I started 10 years ago."

Ashley Giles is favourite to be handed the role of head coach for England, who will also take on Sri Lanka before facing India later in the summer.
