England bowler Chris Jordan ruled out for up to six weeks

England fast bowler Chris Jordan is ruled out of action for up to six weeks and will miss the start of the Ashes.

England fast bowler Chris Jordan has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after picking up a side strain in the one-day series against New Zealand.

The injury rules him out of contention for the start of the Ashes against Australia, which begin on 8 July.

The Sussex player was left out of England's 14-man squad for a pre-Ashes training camp but can still be called up to the squad later in the summer.

Jordan, 26, has won eight Test caps since his debut in June 2014 but did not play in the drawn two-Test series against New Zealand in May.
