Australia make hay during morning session

Australia finish the morning session on 112-1 against England on day one of the final Ashes Test at The Oval.

Australia have ended the morning session on 112-1 against England on the first day of the final Ashes Test at The Oval.

The hosts, who lost the toss, made an early breakthrough as David Warner (6) was caught behind by Matt Prior off the bowling of James Anderson to leave the Aussies on 11-1.

However, Shane Watson and Chris Rogers recovered from the early setback as the pair tore into debutants Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes.

Watson reached his half-century from 72 balls before ending the session on 80, while Rogers will start the afternoon with 21 runs to his name.
