England have opted to retain seam-bowler Stuart Broad in the series opener against India at Lord's.
The 25-year-old has struggled for much of the summer so far and faced competition for his place in the starting XI by all-rounder Tim Bresnan, who misses out.
The Yorkshire man will instead now take part in the county side's LV County Championship match with rivals Lancashire, which started earlier this week in Leeds.
With the toss delayed until 11am due to rain at Lord's, India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni chose to bowl first under the conditions, while opposite number Andrew Strauss admitted that he would have done the same.
