Chennai Super Kings win T20 Champions League final

A Suresh Raina century leads Chennai Super Kings to an eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the T20 Champions League final.

Chennai Super Kings have beaten Indian Premier League rivals Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in the T20 Champions League final this evening.

Kolkata were put in to bat first, and looked to be on their way to a big total when Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir put on a stand of 91 for the first wicket before Uthappa was dismissed for 39.

The captain went on to make 80, but Manish Pandey was the only other player to add more than 30 as the Knight Riders slipped to 161-6, before reaching 180 off their 20 overs.

Pawan Negi led the attack for Chennai, claiming five of the six Kolkata wickets that fell for just 22 runs.

In reply, the Super Kings were in trouble early on when Dwayne Smith was bowled for just eight runs.

However, an unbeaten knock of 109 from Suresh Raina as well as an innings of 39 from Brendan McCullum helped Chennai close in on their target, before MS Dhoni hit the winning runs.

The result gives the Super Kings their second title in this competition, while Raina's century leaves him as the all-time leading runs scorer in the Champions League.
