Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland has said that Darren Lehmann will remain in his position as coach of Australia.

An investigation has been launched after footage emerged of Cameron Bancroft tampering with the ball which was being used in the third Test match with South Africa, with captain Steve Smith admitting that he had prior knowledge of the plan.

Smith has been handed a one-match ban from Test cricket and Bancroft has been fined 75% of his match fee, while Smith has claimed that only a number of senior members were aware of any strategy to affect the ball.

Reports had claimed that Lehmann would leave his role as coach of the Baggy Greens, despite it being suggested that the 48-year-old was not involved in the offences which occurred last week.

However, at a press conference, Sutherland announced that only Smith, Bancroft and vice-captain David Warner were involved and would all return to Australia, with Lehmann being allowed to continue in his current position.

Sutherland also revealed that the investigation remained ongoing, and sanctions for each of the players would be determined as soon as possible.
