The hosts trail by 159 following the second session at the MCG, with Chris Rogers (50) and Steve Smith (14) to resume after tea on 96-3.

David Warner and Shane Watson both fell before lunch, and they were joined by the skipper when James Anderson nipped one back onto his off stump to leave the Aussies 62-3.

The tourists were bowled out for 255 earlier in the day, with Mitchell Johnson ending with figures of 5-63.
